Ok, the title may make you wonder. At the age of 77 I have read many many books. I have also been close to the legal profession for part of that 77 years. If you want to know what it is like to be in that business, read this book. The characters are real. Our justice system is presented factually. And yet it is a great human story. Thank you Stephen. Now go write another Brunelle book
This is another terrific read from Stephen Penner. It has everything: plot, good characters, interesting premise, great ending. As a long-time fan of David Brunelle, it was fascinating to see how the character has evolved. Penner has the ability to sketch a short scene mid-book that shows how his character thinks about himself and that sets up the stunning conclusion.
Thank goodness laws were written to protect those with true diminished capacities, but who determines the true nature of the beast?It was a horrific death that plays out in a very interesting court room drama. Pretty good book.
I loved this whole series. I’m hoping for more books in this David brunnel series. Anyone in to Legal Thrillers this is a must series.
I enjoyed the book and Stephen has again used his legal experience to be nagged me throughout the story line.
Two things I like; Legal thrillers. The Author.
This book literally held me captive from the first chapter. Not only are we privy to the skills with which both sides present their case, but we get to witness a different side of David Brunell as he comes to grips with his own human shortcomings. Excellent read.
The plot was great! Can you murder someone without having the "intent" to do so? Is psychology a science or witchcraft? Well-written but weak in legal matters. No rabbits pulled from the hat. Kinda silly romantic entanglement between lawyers. And David Brunnell has a new black lover. Who woulda thunk it?Two cents: the DMS is bunk. But then I'm a scientist.
