As people who have been through the search process know, it can be (and usually is) an emotional roller coaster. Pam Slaton is a thoroughly professional, diligent, honest, and importantly, successful searcher. She has a wonderful combination of technical ability, knowledge of resources, and gut instinct for the challenging profession she has chosen.Reunited is a smorgasbord of reunion stories, revealing the good, the bad, the ugly, and the exquisite that come through the process of searching, finding, and then living with the aftermath. For those contemplating searching, this book is an encouragement and a reality check about what may be in store. For those who have completed their searches, this book will show you that you are not alone, whether your reunion has been what you wanted or not. For those who know someone who is searching, thinking about it, or finished with it, this book will give you insight into the journey. And for those who have no connection whatsoever with searching, Reunion is a good read, with interesting characters and well-developed plots in each story. This is a great book written well by a successful professional searcher. I highly recommend it.

I grew up not knowing who my mother was and found out who she was through DNA. (see: The Twain Shall Meet, Susan Bailey) I'm a sucker for books like this and I'm always rooting for the seeker to find the long lost family. The fact that Pamela Seaton has helped so many to do just this keeps me rooting for her. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Just finished this and loved it...Pamela is an amazing woman who knows how to sniff out old information about those who were given up at birth.. She was adopted as well so she is able to relate to those she serves....She has included some very interesting stories as well as some of her history.. I just wish the book was longer since I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end..Insightful and very interesting no matter where you come from...So glad that today adoptions aren't as secretive as they once were. She's helped lots of people deal with the pain and happiness of finding families..

Poignant and inspiring real-life stories of searching for biological relatives, which exemplify why so many people are prepared to devote decades of their lives to filling in crucial gaps in their biographies and which argue a powerful case for changes in legislation to enable them to do so.

As a huge fan of Pam's "Searching For ..." TV show, I could hardly wait to read this book. As an adult adoptee, I have read several adoption-themed books by various authors, but so far, this has been the best. I thought she did a great job of accurately summarizing the wide range of feelings adoptees have; the ones we share and the ones we don't talk about because they are just too painful. Every chapter tugged at my heart and I caught myself wiping my eyes. The "Lesson" at the end of each chapter was a really nice touch. This was a GREAT read. I couldn't put it down. Thanks, Pam. Please tell us we can look forward to a Volume II!

A thoroughly enjoyable book. I learned a lot about adopted children and how important it is for them to know where they came from.

A book which should be read by anyone who ever had to give up a child or any one who was placed for adoption. The stories within are those of the joys and the heartaches of seeking and/or the finding of a birth parent or a birth child.

I have already uncovered most of my birth "secrets" but I don't know how or whether to take the next step. Pamela's book gave me a lot of food for thought and it is very well done! Recommended.
